Stow & Lauder Health

Welcome to Stow and Lauder Health

Hopefully this website will provide an easy way for you to gain instant access to the information you need.

As well as specific Practice details such as opening hours, how to register and services we provide, you’ll also find a wealth of useful pages covering a wide range of health issues along with links to other relevant medical organisations.

Practice Team

Stow and Lauder Health is a friendly four Partner (Dr John Usher, Dr Bethan Williams, Dr Gladys McCollum, and Dr Jamie Goodhart) GP Practice based over two sites. We have roughly 4700 patients on our Practice list, with 3200 mainly linked with the Lauder Health Centre and 1500 at Stow Health Centre. However, patients are free to attend either of the locations for their appointments. Alongside the four General Practitioner Doctor Partners we have a close team of Health Professionals and Reception staff. We pride ourselves on the friendly and accommodating service provided.

The Stow Health Centre is located in a modern custom built building with private parking and ease of access for prams and wheelchairs. There is a Dispensary in Stow Health Centre for ordering and collection of medicines.

The Lauder Health Centre is on Crofts Road in the heart of Lauder which was officially opened in August 2013.  The Practice has close links with the Lauder Pharmacy which is only a five minute walk away.

Get Well, Keep Well

Of course we’re not just here for when you are unwell. Our team of healthcare professionals and back-up staff offer a number of clinics and services to promote good health and well-being whatever your medical condition.

Community Treatment & Care (CTAC)

CTAC (Community Treatment & Care) Services are now available at our Practice.  This is a Health Board service.

Nurse led Community Treatment & Care services are now available at our Practice.  This service provides routine treatments such as wound care, blood tests, and other procedures that may have previously been carried out by the GP Surgery.

If you have been asked by us, or the hospital team, to arrange one of these services, please call the Booking Hub on 01896-809250 between 8 am and 5 pm, Monday to Friday, to book your appointment.  Remember to bring your blood forms to your appt, if they have been provided by the Hospital.

You may be asked to book appointments for the following:

  • blood tests (phlebotomy)
  • ECG
  • ear syringing
  • wound care and dressings
  • removal of stitches or staples after surgery
  • B12 injections and other routine injections
  • BP checks and monitoring
  • some other routine procedures

Appointments should only be made at the request of a Clinician.

To provide feedback or make a complaint in relation to this service, please go to the NHS Borders Patient Experience website for more info - nhsborders.scot.nhs.uk/feedback-and-complaints/

You will still attend your appointment here at the Practice.  When you arrive, please check in at Reception.

Save Time By Seeing The Right Professional

We have made a list of which professional you will need to see depending on the issues that you are experiencing. This means less time wasted by seeing the wrong professional.

Trainee ANP

We have a Trainee ANP (Advanced Nurse Practitioner) working with the Practice - she is a qualified nurse undertaking further training in the care of acute medical conditions, with the support from the GPs in the Practice.  She will review patients with acute medical issues, on the day.
