Appointments

All of our routine consultations are scheduled for a max of 15 minutes in length (and ideally one problem per appointment) and are made by telephoning the Practice, in person and also via on-line access (currently suspended for making appointments). Appointments can be booked up to eight weeks in advance.  The Doctors also have 10 minute telephone appointments which are useful if the Doctor does not require to see you in person.

The Receptionist will ask for details of the nature of your problem so that you can be directed to the most appropriate member of our Team for your specific problem, which isn't always a doctor.

Tel appointments with the doctor - you will be given an estimate of time when the doctor will contact you.  This is not always the time the doctor can call as urgent/emergencies will take priority.

You will receive an SMS text message to remind you of your appointment the day before - with the option to cancel.

On-line access (via the link at the top of this page) - You can now register for patient access to on-line appointment booking (currently suspended for making appointments) and prescription requests.

Please complete the application form below or collect one from the Practice to register and if successful your application will be approved and you will receive your log on details.

If you feel you have a more complex issue or wish to discuss a number of issues then please ask for a double appointment when booking your appointment and we will try to accommodate this.

The Doctors and Health Care team will always try to keep to time but often due to circumstances outwith our control the clinic may be running late. Reception staff will inform you on arrival if the clinic is running more than 20 minutes late.

Urgent Problems

If you think you have an urgent problem which requires an appointment that day then please inform the Reception staff when requesting your appointment. Please call the Practice early in the day - you will be asked for information about your condition in order to help the Medical Team see you more efficiently.

You will be provided with an urgent appointment with whichever Doctor is available, at the end of their surgery or allocated for a telephone consultation the same day. If it is an emergency, please inform the Receptionist so that it can be dealt with immediately.

Telephone Advice

Not all problems require a face to face consultation– your doctor may be able to give you advice over the telephone, in which case the Receptionist will allocate a suitable appointment time for a telephone consultation.  They will also ask for your telephone number so that a doctor may telephone you back, which will be around the appointment date/time that you have been allocated.  These telephone consultations are treated just like face to face appointments, so if you aren't available around the allocated time and miss the telephone call, you are most likely going to have to make another appointment.

Cancellations

If you cannot attend an appointment for any reason please inform us as soon as possible in order for us to give the slot to someone else. You can either telephone to cancel, or go on-line via Patient Access - GP appointments & prescriptions online or reply CANCEL to the SMS appointment text reminder.

Minor Injuries Unit (MIU)

You can attend your local Minor Injuries Unit (MIU) for non-life threatening but painful injuries, like cuts, minor burns, sprains and strains. Visiting a MIU can often be quicker than going to A&E.

If you think you need to visit a MIU, you should call NHS 24 on 111 and they will direct you to the best care for your needs. Or if you are unsure where to go, visit NHSinform.scot  for advice.

NHS 24 (111)

NHS 24 on 111 can help you get the right care if:

  • You think you need A&E, but it’s not life threatening
  • Your GP or dental practice is closed and you cannot wait until they reopen
Home Visits

Whilst we encourage our patients to come to the surgery, where we have the proper equipment and facilities available, we do appreciate this is not always possible for housebound patients. In this respect, if you do need a home visit, please be prepared to provide details of your request and please help us by calling before 10:00.

The Doctors perform their routine house calls in the late morning following their surgeries.

Appointment DNA

DNA (did not attend) of appointments

Over recent months, despite us sending out SMS messages for GP/Nurse appointments, our DNA rate is on the increase.  Please inform us if you no longer need an appointment as someone else could use this time.

Video Consultations

The Practice is now carrying out video consultations, by prior appointment, by telephoning the Practice and asking for a video consultation.  You may be given a tel triage appt in the first instance, depending on the problem.

The Receptionist has been asked to find out the nature of the problem when you phone in order to prioritise your appt, and give you the most suitable type of appointment.

On the day/time of your video consultation - click on the link to the 'NHS Near Me' site below to then access the virtual waiting room, where a GP will be expecting to see you.
